With the permission from the local Latin hierarchs, Bishop Mar Kuriakose Kunnacherry sent Fr. Joseph Meledath to take care of the pastoral needs of Kananaya Catholics in Houston and Dallas on November 27, 1994. Bishop Joseph Fiorenza of the Galveston-Houston diocese appointed Fr. Joseph Meledath as the director of Knanaya Catholic Mission, Houston in 1996.
He served the mission until Fr. Joseph Manappurath was appointed as the mission director on September 1, 1998.
While residing in Houston and serving as the director of the Knanaya Catholic Mission in Houston under the Latin Hierarchy, Fr. Joseph Meledath also started serving the Knanaya Catholic Mission in Dallas from November 27, 1994.
He served the mission until Fr. Joseph Manappurath was appointed as the mission director in Houston and Dallas on September 1, 1998.
